Dior and Art

NEW EXHIBITION AT LA GALERIE DIOR 2023 Miss Dior © Adrien Dirand

Fashion Houses through their founders and their heirs, if they continued to exist, have always been inspired by the world of art through collaborations but also true inspirations to create, without excluding commercial operations of visibility and expectations of greater sales.
Maison Dior has always been sensitive to the different artistic expressions that have occurred from its creation until today. Starting from this noble fil rouge, Galerie Dior hosts, from 24 November 2023 to 13 May 2024, an unprecedented exhibition presenting Dior’s collaborations with female artists.
From Christian Dior to Maria Grazia Chiuri, this unique museum embodies both the spirit of Parisian couture and the aura of a House in perpetual motion. In fact, Christian Dior himself had an unconditional passion for art, not forgetting that he started out as a gallery owner. Subsequently as a couturier, he drew inspiration from these elective affinities in painting, sculpture, architecture, literature and music. Since 2016 the tradition continues with Maria Grazia Chiuri for the Women’s collections.
On display are works by Niki de Saint Phalle, Katerina Jebb, Brigitte Lacombe, Maya Goded, Shourouk Rhaiem, Lillian Bassman, Judy Chicago, Yuriko Takagi, Sarah Moon, Brigitte Niedermair, Claude Lalanne, Elina Chauvet, Eva Jospin, Constance Guisset, without forgetting the creations dedicated to the Lady Dior bag which, in eight editions, are designed by artists for an annual event.
