The cycle of solo exhibitions brought the art critic and curator Alain Chivilò back to Casa del Mantegna, Mantua, ends in the early months of 2022 with the “Giuseppe Marcotti Visual Codes” event. The temporary collaboration with the Province of Mantua therefore ends after a series of five exhibitions. The artist from Mantua moves along constant personalized research, in accordance to a completely pulsating history of art.
Curated by the art critic Alain Chivilò, circa forty between sculptures and paintings, will introduce the visitor along expressed conceptualities, hidden but always coherent within a space.
Through the patronage of the Province and the Municipality of Mantua, the ground floor of Casa del Mantegna, with the works by the Maestro, becomes a complex universe to be discovered and verified in detail.
In fact, as indicated by Chivilò in the critical text: “Marcotti places the art he conceived in the surrounding spatiality, in order to analyze and investigate perpetually. The transition between multiple dimensions allows to view and analyze his creations, experiencing more a sort of alternative three-dimensionality. Marcotti, referring back to the Spatialism that arose after the Second World War, tries to explore new impulses by focusing on infinite and possible interpretations. Multiple interactions, assembling contents and providing continuous silent voices, are always visible. In an apparent destruction or modification of an object, the artist constructs cognitive signs for straight flows.
So, not only Spatialism to which Marcotti finds inspiration, but a further Dadaist spirit coexists in him for an art to be lived not passively, but capable of interacting conceptually and visually with the work itself”.
The ground floor of Casa del Mantegna therefore represents an artistic path designed to make people reflect, within a contemporary art free to express itself between conceptuality and abstraction. Giuseppe Marcotti, in a nutshell, far from provocation expresses introspection for further worlds.
